Freedom Weekend

I suppose it's a little late to blog about last weekend as if it was yesterday, but better late than never. Freedom weekend, as I'm calling it,occurred last weekend because Ross and I took off to Mpls on our own....no car seat, no pack and play, no 8-bags full of clothing, diapers, food, bottles, etc....no toddler, it was just us and a couple bags with comfy sweatpants and sweatshirts!

Gus had his own version of a freedom weekend, too. Grandma and Grandpa Vickie and Dave came down and stayed Thursday - Sunday. Basically Gus got to play and play and do whatever he pleased which means he was happy.

So I think the only people in this situation who didn't have a freedom weekend were his Grandma and Grandpa. But I think they had fun and we appreciated it a TON.

The reason we took off for Mpls on Friday was because of the birth of little Gabrielle Marie. Our friends Mike & Michelle welcomed her into the world last Wednesday, October 29th at 7:51pm. She is precious. I can't believe she is this small (7 lbs 13 oz). She seemed way smaller than that. She is adorable and is a really good baby. Here's some shots of her cuteness.

Meanwhile, Gus was busy with G & G.

Picking out the best book.

Heart-to-heart with Grandpa Dave.

Trying to escape from Grandma Vickie.

Didn't work.

Still trying.

Extreme close up.

And finally, a blog post wouldn't be a blog post without sharing Gus's latest trick. G & G taught him how to show everyone how old he is. He's 1 in case you can't see his little hand and the sign for 1.

On second glance it looks as if he's going "right back at cha."

Gus,
Just to let you know we had a great weekend and if you feel the need for a break just make arrangements for your mom and dad to leave for the weekend. We will come down there and you can take care of us for the weekend!!
Love,
Grandpa Dave

Grandma & Grandpa Pankratz.... You will be pleased to know that in all of these pictures Gabe said, "baby, mama, daddy!" Even after I corrected him "no, grandma, grandpa".... So it means you two are super young! Ha ha -- anyways love the pics and can't wait for Steph & Mikes little one to arrive!
