We're in Minneapolis

Location: Victoria, MN

We decided to drive down to visit Mike, Michelle, and Gabby in the Minneapolis area. We didn't think there was any reason to hang out in Fargo this weekend. Hopefully the flood protection goes well in Fargo this weekend.

Basement is clean

We've carried everything up from the basement, just incase. Gus is in heaven because our living room is full of coolers, patio furniture, an office chair and some of his old baby toys. He's perfecting his climbing skills today.

Nearly everything is closed and the only travelers allowed on the road are city officials, emergency vehicles, or guard members so we're home until further notice.

Sandbagging

We're trying to save the city! There's been a ton of volunteers working around the clock the past 4 days. We hope it's enough to keep everyone dry and safe.

And so it begins

From what every parent says, climbing up on stuff is just part of being a boy. I think we'll keep it away from windows and out of the kitchen to keep things safe for the time being.

Good job

We spent the weekend in Minot watching Ross' cousin, Lucas, and the whole Berthold bball team play in the State Tournament. We loved it. Way to go, Lucas! Nice moves.

Congratulations!

A little off the back, please

It has taken Gus 16 months to perfect this lush lion's mane, and now this:

It's just funny

No time for captions or commentary. I hope you think Shrek is funny.

Grandparents

Gus got plenty of attention from both sets of grandparents, 2 weekends in a row.

Farm animal sounds are much cuter when exclaimed by toddlers

Gus' grandma Vickie, Grandpa Dave, and Great-Grandma Betty were in town this weekend and as usual when they are in town, Gus loved every second of it.

His Grandma Vickie taught him how to make a rooster sound. His tongue was all twisted up as he tried to get it just right.

2 reasons we never have to get a dog

1. Martini
2. Peanut

Those are the names of our good friends Kristie & Todd's little puppies. I think whenever Gus wants to play with a wee little dog, we will just head over to their house. We will ask permission first, of course.

These pups are adorable. They are Yorkies who can just about fit in the palm of your hand. Martini is old and wise and Peanut is a new addition to the family. He was just adopted as a rescue dog last month. Gus likes to watch them run around but gets kind of shy when they try to sniff him or give him a lick.

He proudly wore his Peanut shirt in honor of Peanut.

I told Gus this mini sniff is nothing compared to the sniffin and attention he gets from his aunt and uncle's dog, Hunter, who is the same size as a pony. That's true, he's huge. So Hunter is another reason we don't need to get a dog. There are so many lovable pets in the area that Gus can surely get his fill!
