Mini family reunion

The long awaited arrival and visit of my sister, Stephanie, and her precious daughter (our niece), Hava, finally arrived. The weekend was wonderful. And it turned into a family reunion, of sorts, with a hotel full of relatives and house full of kids and kid stuff.

Here's our sweet niece on the day she arrived, enjoying a snack. She was pleasant and polite the entire time. She had no fear and would go to anyone, which we loved. She will be 1 on April 20th. Check out that head of hair.

Gus liked playing with her, but wasn't really into her girly purse, makeup, and compact. He just held it for her.
We observed his first jealousy-attack. As soon as my mom picked up Hava and paid special attention to her, Gus nearly climbed right up her leg in an attempt to get on her lap before Hava could settle in.

Eventually he decided she really was as cute and precious as we'd been telling him she was. So he gave up the fight and gave her a kiss.

They were BFFs the rest of the weekend.

Seriously - cute.

Here's Hava meeting her Great-grandma Ethel for the first time.

Meanwhile, Gus was getting ready to hit the pool.

He was proud of his backpack, which was stocked with an apple, a water bottle, cheezits, and a ball for the pool.

Hava wanted in that pool.

Gus could swim for hours. He loved taking laps with his Gpa Steve.

The girls made their way into the pool action. Laura, Steph, Lindsey, and Hava.

Nice look.
Another shot with our youngest cousins, Laura and Lindsey.

A family pic! Minus Josh and Christy (who were in SD for Christy's baby shower), and Mike (Steph's husband who was traveling for work). It was great to see everyone. It's been years since we've done the weekend hotel party as a family.

Gma and Gpa with their grandkids. And the next time we see them, there will be another! Josh and Christy's little boy is due in 4 weeks.

Hava wished she could have reached the pedals on Gus' spidey trike.

Time for a walk. Hava wasn't used to the brisk ND weather. It's been in the 70's in Boston for the past few weeks.

We celebrated Hava's 1st birthday while she was here. Gus wanted to help her with the gift opening.

At first she was unsure of the princess hat, but later decided it wasn't so bad.

"What's this?! A cupcake, sugar? Seriously, what is that," was thought by Hava as this mysterious thing appeared on her plate. (As some of you know, my sister Stephanie is the healthiest eater on the planet. And being an accomplished dietician, she should be - and should be proud of it. She has a talent of making even the healthiest foods taste and look great. She always has an idea for a dinner that does not include fast-food, or a box, or canned goods. So as you can imagine, Hava doesn't dig into a cupcake with frosting on a regular basis. And we took a million photos of this event so we could show Hava that she did, at one time, get a sweet treat. Haha, Steph, I kid. You know I love you and your food-ways.)

"YUM, mom!"
Flower child, Hava.

Digging into some garden tools with her Uncle Josh and Aunt Christy.

Gus just about blew his lips off trying to get this windmill to spin. He had to be dizzy. He was blowing so hard his face was red.

Of course, I had to throw a bath photo in the mix.

And after their bath, Hava went to sleep, and Gus used that opportunity to soak up some one-on-one time with his Gma and Gpa. Just like he's used to.

What a weekend! I didn't want to say goodbye to the family, but we had to get back to our regular old life. We will soon plan our next get-together with the fam. Anyone interested in heading to Boston for a little lahb-sta and Red Sox this summer?
