It runs in the family

For as long as I can remember, the men on the Vangsness side of my family have always had a moustache.  Like, before they were even trendy.  I call them trend-setters!

So I guess you can say it runs in our family.

I hope Nora doesn't actually get a moustache, but for now, it's cute.

One final thought on the 'stache: I've never seen my dad or uncles without one.  That's something!

Kind of a big girl

Nora finally ditched the crib and upgraded to a big girl bed.  We decided it's much easier to crawl into bed with a crying toddler at 2am and fall back asleep in a full-sized bed, rather than a twin.  We learned that the hard way with Gus.

Nora loves it!

She sleeps like a champ and has only fallen out once.

A White Easter

We spent Easter weekend in Minot.  The kids colored eggs with Grandma Vickie, and Nora even tried drinking the vinegar mixture.  She was not impressed (you can see it in her face).

They both found their baskets bright and early at Grandma Vickie and Grandpa Dave's house.
We also found the Easter Bunny at Grandma Debi and Grandpa Steve's house, but he was frozen by that time.  Nothing like a White Easter!

Will, Christy, and Josh were home, too.  Here is Great-Gma Ethel with a few of her grandkids.

Happy Snowy Easter!

Basketball, family-style

If there's one person who has watched a few basketball games in her life, it's Ross's grandmother, Betty.  We once counted up the consecutive years that she's been attending games and between her kids and grandkids, it's been something like 40+ years, without missing a season.

This would be the first year that she had no grandchildren playing ball.  Sooo why not get the guys together for a reunion tour, you ask?  Well, that's exactly what happened.  The cousins who could make it, did, and they put together a team for the ND Grand Am tourney in Grand Forks.

The team name was BP Ballers (Betty Peterson is the namesake).

It was an awesome family event!

Here's the cheering section.

And a shot of the team playing for Consolation Champs at the Betty Englestad arena on the UND campus.
Here's the last shot of the day, after a looong day (3 games).  Kyle, Lucas, Betty, Alex, and Ross.  Grant played the day before but couldn't make it for the team shot.   That's OK - there's always next year!  As long as Ross and Kyle recover by then.

The latest cuteness from Boston

We can't get enough of the photos that are sent to to us via email and text of our precious little nieces.  Thanks for sharing, Steph, until we get out to Boston to meet Soli in person.

Hava is a great big sis.
Soli is 7 weeks old and smiling away!

Stir Crazy

It's been a long winter here in friendly Fargo, ND.  And we keep getting hit with more blizzards and cold temps so our outside playtime has been limited.  I'd like to blame the snow for the stir craziness that has ensued inside our house in February and March.  For example:

Nora's potty training has turned into a daily fashion show.

She eats only the tops off her frosted mini wheats.

She replaced all the toilet paper rolls with paper towels.  Now those are some big rolls, probably not safe to flush.

She found a pacifier stash and hid in the closet so she wouldn't be robbed of the chance to enjoy her bad habit.  Not sure why she felt the need to wear her heels, though.

YouTube at bathtime.  Now this is getting close to rock bottom, people.

We're looking forward to the spring thaw!  As long as it doesn't bring a flood with it.  If so, we're ready to sandbag.

It's a wrap!

Hockey season is officially over.  Gus loved his first year playing the game and so did we!  They ended their season with a Termite Jamboree the first weekend in March.  The Catamounts had fun and saved their best plays for last.

Here's Gus going in for a goal.

Gus really liked playing goalie.  He liked it so much that he would take pointers from his coach, Jeremy, if it meant saving a few shots.

The team sign, team medals, and trophies at the pizza party later in the day were a hit.

Proud Dad
 Best Friends (Caleb and Gus)
Our best attempt at a team shot.

Congrats, Gus on a great season.

(And what would a hockey season be without one of those airbrushed hockey beanies that you see every hockey player wearing?)
